UA Localization Software Engineer

Working within an agile team I was tasked not only with delivering localized UA content, but also with maintaining Symantec’s localization software tools and Kanban boards. Delivering localized required that I master Symantec’s work processes, as well as using their repositories, Content Management Systems and coding for development in Java, Python and C#. I played a semi Scrum master role in designing and maintaining Kanban work processes and prioritizing and delegating L10N workflows within the Agile team.

In addition to developing and maintaining Veritas’s website, I was tasked with designing and developing tools specifically tailored to QA processes within the team. This involved coding from scratch in C# and Java. Contributing to both the requirements and technical aspects of any development specification is also part of the role. Investigating software problems identified in testing or via support & providing solutions, also assisting in the resolution of software support issues.

During my time with Symantec I worked as a web developer and producer on the new Veritas project. This involved building the new Veritas connected experience its website and implementing the new development environment Adobe Experience Manager. Working as part of a very dynamic team we Developed cross-browser compatibility in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript using CQ5, CQ6 and Team site content management systems. We used a Kanban Agile environment to delegate work to the appropriate teams.

I worked as the primary engineer/developer in Gael Linn’s IT department. This role mainly entailed Web Development but included some back end server maintenance and general networking for their main office and satellite office’ throughout Ireland. During this time Gael Linn were developing new technologies to reach out to their clientele which consisted mainly of secondary school students, schools and teachers. I designed and developed their website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This later evolved into using a Content Management System, WordPress, and then ASP.Net. During this time the IT team had begun experimenting with mobile applications in which I coded in Java using Android Studio and C# using Visual Studio.

At Lebara Mobile I worked as a tier 2 Technical Support Engineer. I was tasked with solving basic technical problems, investigating elevated issues and delivering solutions. Any problems that couldn’t be addressed by tier 2 support had to be escalated to tier 3 and this required a detailed account of the problem along with tried and tested solutions from tier 2. The services that were mainly in need of troubleshooting were SCCM Servers, Android, IOS, and Windows mobile operating systems. From time to time the tech’ support team would assist with issues regarding on site technical support for teams within the company.

I worked as the main designer and developer of IES Irelands’ website. I built the website using WordPress setting up database within Cpanel and installing WordPress. A good understanding of databases, PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript was required and I managed IES Irelands content both on the website and on social media.
